LintelTrust supports
the voluntary sector in Scotland by giving grants and loans to voluntary organisations, including housing associations and
housing co-operatives. Our aim is to help people live full and independent lives
in their own homes.
Who Can Apply?
· voluntary organisations or charities
· housing associations and co-operatives
· other non-profit making bodies working for charitable purposes
How Can We
Help?
· grants - usually one-off - the normal maximum grant is £5000
· interest free loans
· advice on funding possibilities
What Are
Our Target Groups?
· single homeless people
· people with physical or mental disabilities
· older people (people of pensionable age, or people over 50 with extra needs)
· people of ethnic minorities
· refugees
· people in housing need
Essential
Conditions
All applications must meet the following conditions:
1. The project must relate to providing or supporting
independent living in a secure home, or must be run by or closely involve a housing
assocation, or must aim to improve people’s housing, standard of living
or local community.
2. Organisations should have established an equal
opportunities policy, and should be monitoring its efficiency. If a formal policy
is not in place, organisations must be aware of and be working towards best practice in this area.
3. All possible sources of statutory funds (ie local
authority or central government) must have been explored. Lottery funding should
also have been considered if appropriate.
What Kind
of Projects Can We Help?
This is not an exhaustive list, but may help to clarify
what funding is available.
· start-up or development work: establishing
a new organisation to fill a gap, or developing a new aspect of an existing organisation.
· information or advice on housing, including training for volunteers
· projects which prevent homelessness
· projects or pieces of work which demonstrate good practice or which can be
applied in other areas; organisations must show how they will publicise such practice.
· community facilities associated with housing
· employment initiatives or projects by a housing association which help the
economic revival of a community
· schemes to involve users or clients in the management of a project
· projects which encourage or facilitate independent living for people with
physical or mental disabilities or older people.
· innovative ideas in housing provision
What We Do
Not Fund:
· individuals
· national appeals for general funds
· large capital projects (smaller capital projects will normally be offered
a loan rather than a grant) or vehicles
