What sort of work do you fund?
Our Information for Applicants provides more information about the type of projects that we support, noting that we currently operate three specific Programmes. The Trustees are most interested in funding projects that are housing and/or community-related, are based in Scotland, and which have a specific housing focus.
What don't you fund?
LintelTrust does not fund individuals, national appeals for general funds, large capital projects (smaller capital projects will normally be offered a loan rather than a grant), holidays or vehicles.
Can I speak to someone about the application that I wish to make?
LintelTrust encourages prior contact from potential applicants by phone or e-mail to help you decide whether to apply for a grant or not.
Can we apply for core funding?
We will consider applications for core funding excluding capital costs but encourage prior contact before an applicant applies to discuss the potential application.
Do you award grants over a number of years?
We generally make small, one-off grants and also occasional grants for a period of up to three years. The latter grants tend to fall under our Mainstreaming Equalities Programme, and are seldom made.
How much can we ask for? Do you have a maximum level of grant?
Our average one-off grant donation is around £2,500 or less and our larger three-year donations tend to be between £15,000 and £30,000 over a three-year period. Please note that Lintel Trust is extremely unlikely to fully fund your request, as we encourage you to apply for other funding or for matched funding.
Our recent grant application to the Lintel Trust has been turned down. Can we re-apply?
There is no time limit on re-applications, however we suggest that you talk to us before making a second application so that we can give you any support and advice required.
We have had a previous grant from the Lintel Trust; can we re-apply for a different area of work?
Yes.
We are coming towards the end of a three year donation from the Trust. Can we re-apply for funding to continue this work?
LintelTrust would not be able to support any further grant post a three-year grant, and would suggest that projects devise exit strategies to take this into account.
How often do the Trustees meet and do you have deadlines for applications for each meeting?
The Trustees
meet 4 times a year usually in March, June, September, and December. Deadlines for applications are two weeks prior
to the Trustees' Meeting at which you would like your application to be considered. We tend to let applicants
know very quickly after ther Trustees' Meeting whether they have been successful or not.
How do you evaluate funded projects?
If you have received a one-off
grant for a smaller amount, evaluation is one year after the meeting took place at which your grant was agreed.
LintelTrust will send or email you a form for completion, and encourages photographs (if appropriate) of the project, and
any relevant publicity materials. Publicity materials should highlight lIntelTrust's contribution. If your
grant was for a one-off larger amount, or was a three-year grant, evalution is quarterly, and Lintel Trust will
provide you with a template report which can be re-used.
